Gabriel Arges is a black belt instructor at Gracie Barra Thousand Oaks. He received his black belt under Romulo Barral and Felipe "Preguiça," also trained extensively with Marcelo "Uirapuru," and competed for the Gracie Barra academy. His lineage runs from Mitsuyo Maeda through Carlos Gracie Sr., Helio Gracie, Carlos Gracie Jr., Vinícius Magalhães and Rômulo Barral. Arges first made his name in the lower belt divisions, winning IBJJF World titles in gi and no-gi, the European Open, and Pan American and American National championships during his purple and brown belt years from 2013 to 2015. At black belt he is a three-time IBJJF World Champion (2016, 2017 and 2019), a UAEJJF King of the Mats Grand Prix champion, a two-time Abu Dhabi Pro champion and a Grand Slam winner in Abu Dhabi, Los Angeles and Tokyo. Nicknamed "Frodo," he also runs GB Frisco in Frisco, Texas.
