Helio Barthem Neto

Helio Barthem leads Barthem Jiu Jitsu Temecula, a Checkmat-affiliated academy in Temecula, California, which he runs alongside Professor Larissa Barthem. He holds a fourth-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Checkmat co-founder Leonardo Vieira. With decades in the art, Barthem has focused not only on high-level jiu-jitsu but on teaching it in a clear, effective and supportive way, with the stated aim of helping every student become a stronger and more confident version of themselves. Students have trained under him at Checkmat Temecula since it opened at the beginning of 2019.
