Detailed Description

John Piper is the head coach of Charlotte Jiu-Jitsu Academy in the NoDa neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina, and an IBJJF Masters World Champion in both gi and no-gi. He won the IBJJF Masters World Championship at brown belt in the gi in 2013, then spent a decade chasing the no-gi title at black belt, taking silver at the IBJJF No-Gi Worlds in 2015, 2019 and 2023 before winning gold in 2024 as a Master 4 black belt. Piper built the academy into one of the more competitive sport jiu-jitsu programs in the Southeast while continuing to compete himself; its competition team includes IBJJF World and Pan champions at every belt. He teaches the gi and no-gi fundamentals and advanced classes.
