John Paul Bruss

John Bruss is the owner and head instructor of Rocket City Revolution BJJ in Alabama. He is a 3rd degree black belt under Julio Fernandez, with whom he began training in Vermont in 2004, and he has trained and competed across New England, Canada, the Southeast and at the Rio Open. After moving to Alabama in 2014 he connected with the local jiu-jitsu community and began laying the groundwork for RCR BJJ. Several of the academy's instructors came up under him, including Bobby Ferrante, whom he promoted to brown belt in July 2024. Bruss describes himself first as a family man and aims to bring that sense of family to his classes.
