Malachy Silva is the head coach of Midtown Jiu Jitsu in Kingston, New York, where he leads the adult classes and directly runs the youth program. He began training in New York City in 2016 and, after receiving his purple belt, started teaching under Shawn Williams at 5 Star Martial Arts/Renzo Gracie LA in Los Angeles, where he became head coach of the children's program, spearheaded the adult fundamentals program and eventually co-managed the gym. He received his black belt from Dane Molina, one of Williams' top students, in 2023 and opened Renzo Gracie East LA as its manager and head coach. Silva has an extensive competition record, including 2023 JJWL gi titles and a 2024 IBJJF New Jersey Open no-gi silver at black belt. Born and raised in Ulster County, he returned there to open his own school.
