Marcelo Galvão Santiago, better known as Marcelo Yogui, is the founder and leader of Yogui BJJ in Gothenburg. He has trained Brazilian jiu-jitsu for more than 45 years, having started at 15, and holds a seventh-degree black belt, often called a coral belt, which he received in 2026 from his friend Roberto "Gordo" Correa. His training began under Rillion Gracie and continued with Carlos Gracie Jr. of Gracie Barra; he also credits Renzo Gracie and the Machado brothers. After meeting Peter Zethraeus in Rio de Janeiro in 1996, Yogui visited Sweden later that year, when only a few clubs practised the sport, and became one of the pioneers who brought Brazilian jiu-jitsu to Scandinavia. His titles include Pan American, Brazilian and European champion. Besides running an academy in Rio and teaching across Scandinavia, he has taught in Europe, the Americas and Hong Kong, and is now based in Gothenburg.
