Marco Nascimento is a 7th-degree coral belt and the professor behind Marco Nascimento BJJ, a family-owned academy in San Mateo. He began Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at 17 in his hometown of Teresópolis, Rio de Janeiro, under Pitbull headmaster Adilson Bitta Lima, earned his black belt in six and a half years and became Bitta's first black belt. As a black belt he competed in more than 300 tournaments and won over 150 gold medals, including Pan American titles in 2007 and 2008 and a World No-Gi silver medal in 2010. Nascimento moved to the United States in 2000, taught briefly in New York, and opened his own academy in California in 2003. After an eight-year competition break he returned in 2018 with gold at Masters International Europe and Asia and the Tokyo Open. In October 2025 Bitta Lima promoted him to 7th-degree coral belt in Dubai, and he still teaches daily.
