Mario Sergio de O. Yokoyama

Professor Mario Sergio Yokoyama is the founder and director of myBJJ Team. A 5th degree black belt, he earned his black belt under Ryan Gracie, a grandson of Carlos Gracie, in Brazil before moving to Australia in 2004. Yokoyama started the team in his own backyard in 2007. From there myBJJ has grown into an international association headquartered in Sydney with affiliated clubs in Japan, New Zealand, Korea and Brazil, and its competition team has produced champions at World, Pan American, Pan Pacific, Australian and Brazilian championships. The team's stated focus is on self-defence, building confidence and competition, with a structured curriculum shared across all its schools.
