Detailed Description

Mark Vives is the head instructor at New Breed Training Center, where he coaches Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA. Born in 1976, he began martial arts in 1997 in Muay Thai and switched to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 1998, which has remained his focus. After time away for personal reasons he returned to the art in 2003 and has competed actively ever since. He received his black belt in 2011 from John Ramirez and John Ouano and is one of three black belt siblings, alongside Mike and Myles Vives. Vives is the 2022 IBJJF No-Gi World Champion at Master 4, was the IBJJF's top-ranked Masters 3 competitor overall in 2021-22, and has won three IBJJF Pan titles, four American Nationals, twenty Chicago Opens, and 82 IBJJF black belt gold medals in total. Several of New Breed's instructors, including Merchant Adams, Devin Dallaire, and Mykee Vives, earned their black belts under him.
