Detailed Description

Mateus Rodrigues is the founder and head professor of Baza Jiu-Jitsu in North Hollywood. A nine-time world champion and four-time Pan American champion, he continues to compete at the top of the sport while running the academy: he was ranked ninth among black belt absolute competitors for the 2024 season and tenth in 2025. Rodrigues built Baza as a training space for students from kids through adults, combining traditional jiu-jitsu with newer methods. According to the academy, he works with complete beginners and seasoned competitors alike, meeting each student at their current level and pushing them toward their goals.
