Nate Burnette is the founder, owner and head instructor of Senzo Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Greenville, South Carolina. He is a fourth-degree black belt under world champion Cassio Werneck, with more than 25 years of BJJ and submission grappling experience and over a decade competing at black belt, earning medals at local, state and world championships in the black belt masters divisions. Before opening Senzo he spent more than ten years as head instructor of Synergy Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Northern California. Alongside jiu-jitsu, Burnette served over 20 years in law enforcement with a large metropolitan agency in California, working mainly in specialized units and becoming its use-of-force subject matter expert before retiring in 2022 to open his own academy. He has trained thousands of officers in defensive tactics and firearms, and also leads Senzo Training & Tactics Group. He moved to Greenville with his family after visiting in 2021.
