Omar Kadi is the owner and head coach of Glory Martial Arts. Born in Syria and raised in Brooklyn, New York, he first tried Brazilian jiu jitsu about 13 years ago in search of a healthier lifestyle, losing 50 pounds in his first year of training and 40 more in the years that followed. He earned his blue belt at a Renzo Gracie Academy in West Haven, Connecticut, and won his first major competition medal under Master Marcio Stambowsky. As a purple belt he took Masters world championship gold, and at brown belt he added European, Pan, No-Gi Pan and two more world titles. In December 2018 he received his black belt from Marcelo Garcia. Since then he has continued to compete and medal at major tournaments, including a silver at the 2022 Masters World Championship, and has taught seminars in the United States and abroad.
