Professor Rafael Pinheiro is a fourth-degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt with more than two decades of experience as a competitor and instructor. Originally from Brazil, he is a member of the Gracie Barra team and earned his black belt under Roberto "Cyborg" Abreu. He teaches private and group classes, with an emphasis on precise technique, strategy and mental as well as physical toughness. Pinheiro has reached the podium at IBJJF events including the 2023 Orange County Open and the 2022 Miami Open, both of which he won, and the 2016 British Open, where he took both his division and the absolute. He has also competed at the IBJJF World Master and Pan Championships and currently competes in the Master 2 super-heavyweight division.
