Richard Goodwin is the owner and a black belt professor at New Creation Wrestling and Jiu Jitsu, which serves Benicia and Concord, California. A native of Pacifica, he was a state placer in high school wrestling and a three-time NCAA All-American at San Francisco State University with 132 career wins, and he also served in the Army. He was introduced to Jiu Jitsu as an adult about two decades ago by Jay Janeiro, a black belt and owner of Evolve Training Center. As a black belt competitor Goodwin won the IBJJF No-Gi Master World Championship in 2023 and has been described as a seven-time Master World Champion in gi and no-gi. He is a certified drug and alcohol counselor (CADCII) who has lived sober for more than 15 years and credits Jiu Jitsu with playing a significant role in that journey.
