Professor Rob Nickerson III is the owner and head instructor of Reaction MMA in Lexington, Kentucky. He holds a third-degree black belt under Professor Jorge Gurgel through Master Sazinho Sa of SAS Team, having earned his black belt in 2013. Nickerson began boxing at age twelve and started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 1999 under a Carlson Gracie black belt; with MMA still in its infancy, he applied his mainstream sports background to BJJ and MMA training and often ran his own camps. A 25-year student of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA with nearly 28 years in boxing, he competed in close to 20 amateur and professional MMA bouts with only three losses and has medaled at IBJJF, ADCC, Arnold Classic and NAGA events. His focus for many years has been developing his students, and the Reaction fight team he owns has built a record of 168 wins to 49 losses.
