Roberto Grunert Serra
Roberto Serra is the professor at Carlson Gracie Cascais, the school he opened in 2018. Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, he started jiu-jitsu in 1994 at the Carlson Gracie Copacabana academy under Mestre Saporito, and as a coloured belt he was a two-time Brazilian and state champion. He graduated in law at 22 and built a career as a lawyer while continuing to train. Serra received his black belt in 2007 from professor Francisco Albuquerque, known as Toco. He returned to competition in 2016 and in 2018 decided to dedicate himself fully to jiu-jitsu by opening the school in Cascais. He says that, from his own experience, he believes jiu-jitsu has the power to transform people.
