Ryan Christopher Rich

Ryan Rich is the owner and lead instructor of Granite Bay Jiu-Jitsu. A 3rd degree black belt under Ralph Gracie, he brings more than 30 years of martial arts experience and over 20 years of grappling training to the academy. He ran the Sacramento State Jiu-Jitsu program for over five years and has conducted collegiate seminars in other states. In September 2020 Rich was appointed an expert consultant to the Sacramento and Los Angeles County police departments, advising on alternatives to the carotid restraint and filming a series of training videos for California police officers. With a lifetime of experience working with individuals with special needs, he is CPR certified and a certified yoga instructor, and the school has developed its own methodology for teaching children, including strategies for kids with behavioral issues.
