Scott Roffers is the founder and head instructor of Silverback Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Waupun, Wisconsin, described as the town's first pure BJJ academy. He holds a 1st degree black belt under Scott Huston of 360 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Roffers began training in early 2010, initially hoping to pick up pointers for the freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling he coached each spring, and was drawn in after upper belts repeatedly outmaneuvered him with angles and leverage; within four months he was training three days a week and had dropped 20 pounds. Roffers has competed at local and international levels. In 2016 he was the IBJJF's top-ranked Masters 5 purple belt in the world, and at the 2026 IBJJF Master North America he won the Master 7 heavyweight black belt division and took third in the absolute. Several of his brown and purple belts now teach at Silverback.
