Sebastian Lalli is the professor at the Checkmat Equipe 1 headquarters academy in Água Verde, Curitiba, one of the two matriz academies of the Checkmat team. He is one of the team's founders: Checkmat began in 2008 when Mestre Léo Vieira decided to form a new team together with his brothers and students Ricardo Vieira, Leandro Vieira, Chico Mendes and Sebastian Lalli. Since then the team has grown into one of the largest Jiu-Jitsu teams in the world, with a roster of champions that includes black belt Marcus "Buchecha" Almeida, and it continues to develop new champions on and off the mats while expanding its network of affiliates. The Curitiba academy is led by Lalli, while the Rio de Janeiro matriz, Fight Zone, is led by Rico Vieira.
