Seita Horiuchi
Seita Horiuchi is the head instructor and black belt at Carpe Diem Mie, a jiu-jitsu school in Tsu. He began jiu-jitsu in 2006, competing mainly in the Tokai and Kansai regions, and from purple belt onward also entered Tokyo events such as the All Japan Masters Championship, earning his black belt in 2020. He credits reaching black belt largely to having continued training without a serious injury. Competing in the lightest roosterweight division, he regularly spars with partners more than 20 kg heavier and stresses yielding rather than meeting force with force, an approach he carries into teaching so that members avoid injury. His titles include the 2017 All Japan Masters M2 purple belt roosterweight championship, the 2019 All Japan Masters M2 brown belt roosterweight championship, the 2019 All Japan Masters Open Tournament in the same division, and first place in the 2019 JBJJF men's Master 1-2 brown belt ranking.
