Sergio Esquivel is the owner and head instructor of Sugoi Submissions Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Corpus Christi, Texas. A Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and United States Marine Corps veteran, he began training in 2005 under the BJJ Revolution Team while serving in the Marines. During his service he became a certified Martial Arts Instructor Trainer, responsible for teaching and mentoring hundreds of Marines in close-quarters combat and practical self-defense, both on base and on deployment. Esquivel has continued training across the United States and abroad, including competing in Japan, and that background shapes the academy he built: training is structured and intentional, built on fundamentals that hold up under pressure, with high standards and a welcoming environment for beginners, experienced students, and families.
