Tanner Rice is the head instructor at Rice Brothers Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Redding, California, which he runs alongside his brother Mathew. He started learning jiu-jitsu at age seven under his father, Rod Rice, and set out early on to become a world champion, competing on some of the sport's biggest stages as he moved up through the ranks. In 2012, as a brown belt, he reached that goal by winning a world title. Rice has since coached multiple world champions of his own, and the academy points to that experience as the reason he can guide students through the demands of high-level competition. Students describe him and his brother as technical but approachable instructors, and note that he is an avid Star Wars fan.
