Tanno Robson Odilio
Robson Tanno, nicknamed "XuXa", is the head instructor and black belt at Carpe Diem Fukagawa in Tokyo's Koto ward. Born on 15 February 1989, he comes from Maringá in the Brazilian state of Paraná. In his teaching he focuses on explaining the essence of each technique in detail while helping students grow stronger and enjoy jiu-jitsu, drawing out their concerns and questions so that they engage with the art using both body and mind. He describes jiu-jitsu as a martial art with deep lessons that reach into one's way of living and thinking, and says the moments he most enjoys are when students tell him they used something from a previous class in sparring or competition.
