Wagner Mota is the founder and master of Escola Wagner Mota in São Paulo and holds a 5th degree black belt. Formed in the tradition of Behring Jiu-Jitsu, where he learned his fundamentals in the 1990s, he received his black belt and began competing nationally and internationally in the 2000s. In the 2010s he served as a Jiu-Jitsu coach to UFC fighter Demian Maia, collaborating directly on the development of Maia's grappling system for MMA. From 2015 he built Escola Wagner Mota with its own methodology and a graduation system structured to IBJJF criteria, later expanding into franchised units across Brazil. From 2020 he launched Fighting Nerds, a streaming and technical-analysis platform that also carries the Demian Maia system. The school reports more than 30 years of tradition, over 500 students formed and more than a dozen black belts.
