Finding a gym & getting started
Find the right academy and contact the people who run it.
What is BJJGyms.com, and is it free to use?
BJJGyms.com is a directory for finding Jiu-Jitsu gyms, instructors, seminars, camps and tournaments. Browsing public listings is free. Gym owners can claim their listings free; Premium tools and sponsored promotion are optional purchases.
Link to this answerHow do I find a Jiu-Jitsu gym near me?
Open the gym directory and search for an academy or location. Compare the gym’s programs, schedule, instructors and contact information. Before visiting, confirm the current class time, location and visitor policy directly with the academy.
Link to this answerWhere can I find gym membership prices or book a trial class?
Check the gym’s profile and official website for published rates and trial information. When a trial or contact form is available, send your request there; otherwise use the gym’s listed contact details. The academy sets its own fees, eligibility and availability. A request is not a confirmed booking until the academy confirms it.
Link to this answerCan BJJGyms.com change my gym membership or refund an event ticket?
Contact the gym or event organizer that sold you the membership, class or ticket. They control their own payments, attendance, cancellations and refunds. BJJGyms.com Premium is a separate subscription, managed from your Premium billing page.
Link to this answerFree claims & listing changes
Take control of your gym or instructor profile.
How do I claim my gym’s listing? Is the verified badge free?
Find your gym’s profile, select “Own this gym? Claim it,” and sign in or create a free account. Complete the ownership check shown on screen. An approved gym claim gives you control of the listing and its verified badge at no cost. Buying Premium is not required to claim a gym.
Link to this answerHow do I update my gym’s hours, address, photos or other information?
After your claim is approved, open the Owner Dashboard and select the gym you manage. Use its profile tools to update the information students see. Premium members can also configure monthly website synchronization for supported categories. Correct urgent changes directly instead of waiting for the next monthly check.
Link to this answerMy gym is missing, duplicated, closed or already claimed. What should I do?
First search by both gym name and city to check for an existing listing. For a missing gym, duplicate, closure or ownership conflict, email support with the listing URL if available, the gym’s name and city, its official website, and the correction needed. For an ownership conflict, explain your role; do not use someone else’s account.
Link to this answerHow do I claim or update my instructor profile?
Find yourself in the instructor directory and choose the profile claim option. Sign in and submit your claim for review. Once approved, use your instructor profile tools to edit your bio, photo and links. Identity, teaching credentials and permission to teach are checked separately; Premium does not establish a qualification.
Link to this answerDo I need separate Premium memberships for every gym or role?
One personal Premium membership covers the athlete, instructor and gym owner or manager roles you legitimately qualify for, including every gym you are authorized to manage. Authorized staff use their own accounts with the gym permissions assigned to them. Premium does not grant ownership or access to another gym.
Link to this answerAutomatic monthly website updates
Keep your website current and let your linked profile follow.
How do I turn on automatic updates from my website?
With active Premium and an authorized gym or claimed instructor profile, open “Profile care & events.” Select the profile, add its official public website and optional priority pages, choose the categories to synchronize, and save. Those selected categories update automatically on monthly checks; you do not need to approve every change.
Link to this answerWhich information can update automatically from my website?
For gyms, supported categories include the description, hours, phone and social links, location, published prices, programs, class schedule, coaches, photos and hosted events. For instructors, supported categories include the bio, social links, portrait, teaching and booking information, and taught events. You choose the available categories per profile. Only supported information backed by the selected public sources is applied.
Link to this answerHow often is my website checked? Are updates instant?
Each enrolled profile is due for a check once per calendar month. Website changes appear after a successful monthly check, not immediately or weekly. For a time-sensitive change, edit your profile directly. Keep dates, hours and other facts clear on your public source pages so the check can identify them.
Link to this answerWhat happens if my website is unavailable or a detail cannot be read?
Existing profile information is preserved when a source is blocked, unavailable, ambiguous or does not support a fact. Content behind a login, or information that only loads through unsupported scripts, may not be readable. Check your saved sources and update history, publish the fact clearly on a public page, or edit the profile directly. The next scheduled check can use the corrected source.
Link to this answerWill website synchronization overwrite changes I make on BJJGyms.com?
You control direct-edit protection in profile care. When enabled, a category changed directly on BJJGyms.com pauses instead of being replaced by the next website update. Save your chosen categories to resume them when ready. If protection is disabled, selected categories follow the source website on the next check. Keep the website current if you want it to remain the source of truth.
Link to this answerCan I undo an automatic update or stop synchronization?
Yes. Use profile care history to undo a supported automatic change, or disable synchronization in the profile’s settings. Undo preserves later edits rather than blindly replacing them, and affected categories pause until you explicitly resume them. Current authorized managers can still undo supported changes after Premium ends.
Link to this answerWill website updates add athlete medals, tournament results or ranking points?
Website synchronization does not turn website claims into official competition results or ranking points. Monthly reports can highlight newly recorded, officially sourced results already linked to your team. The first check establishes a baseline and does not present old results as new wins. Competition identity, evidence and ranking credit follow separate checks; coverage is not guaranteed for every event or organizer.
Link to this answerSeminars, camps, events & teaching
Publish the right event and direct students to registration.
Do I need Premium to list a seminar, camp or tournament?
No. Standard manual event submissions are free and require content approval. Sign in, open the appropriate submission form, and add accurate event details and the organizer’s registration link. Optional event promotion is a separate purchase; submitting an event does not require paying for promotion.
Link to this answerHow do upcoming events appear on a gym or instructor profile?
Events must identify the gym as a host or the instructor as a teacher; simply mentioning an event is not enough. Approved linked events can appear on the relevant profiles. Premium gym profiles show upcoming hosted events, and Premium adds registration, sharing and calendar links to instructor event displays. With website event synchronization enabled, clearly dated supported hosted or taught events can be created or updated automatically.
Link to this answerWhat if a synced event changes dates, is canceled or disappears from my website?
A supported, clearly identified event can be updated when the source changes its date or explicitly cancels it. A missing or unreadable page does not automatically cancel an event. Past events leave upcoming lists as their dates pass. For an urgent cancellation or incorrect event, send support the event URL and the organizer’s correction rather than waiting for the monthly check.
Link to this answerWho handles event registration, tickets and refunds?
Registration, ticket payments and check-in stay with the event organizer’s system. Follow the registration link on the event listing, check the organizer’s terms, and contact the organizer about payment, attendance or a refund. BJJGyms.com does not take a percentage of ticket sales for standard event listings.
Link to this answerHow do private lessons and instructor booking requests work?
Use an instructor’s published offer or contact option to request a lesson, class, seminar or camp. The instructor sets the rates, available times and terms, then confirms the booking and shares private meeting details. A request alone does not guarantee a time slot. Eligible verified instructors need Premium to publish teaching offers and manage these requests.
Link to this answerRankings, results & certification
Understand what a badge or placement means.
Can a gym or athlete pay for a higher organic ranking?
No. Buying Premium, certification or advertising does not change an organic ranking. Sponsored placements are labeled separately. Gym ownership verification, instructor qualifications, athlete identity and reviewed competition accomplishments are different checks; one badge does not establish all of them.
Link to this answerA competition result is missing or linked to the wrong person. How can I fix it?
Use Athlete Certification to claim your existing athlete identity and submit an official organizer result for review. Include the event, date, division, placing and official result link. For a wrong-person match or duplicate profile, contact support with the affected profile and source URLs. Not every tournament is covered automatically, and a gym website claim alone is not proof of an official result.
Link to this answerIs Athlete Certification included in Premium?
Yes. Athlete Certification is included in Premium at no extra charge. Standalone certification is $5/month or $50/year, plus applicable tax. Claiming athlete identity is free, and identity and official results must still be reviewed. An active badge requires approved accomplishments and active access; paying does not verify teaching qualifications or increase rankings.
Link to this answerHow are children’s competition records handled?
For an athlete under 18, a parent can request a review. Youth certification payments remain unavailable until parent permissions have been verified. Monthly team-result reports omit youth names. For a child’s privacy or incorrect identity information, contact the privacy address with the relevant page URL and your relationship to the child.
Link to this answerAccount access & getting help
Solve common access problems and send useful details if you need help.
How do I reset my password or get back into my account?
Use “Forgot password” with the email used for your account, then follow the reset email. Check your spam folder if it does not arrive. If your gym tools or Premium access are missing after signing in, confirm that you used the same account that claimed the profile or completed checkout. Do not create another paid subscription to fix an account mismatch.
Link to this answerWhere do I change my profile or request a privacy correction?
Use your dashboard settings for personal profile details, the Owner Dashboard for an authorized gym, and instructor profile tools for an approved instructor claim. For personal-data access, correction or removal requests that you cannot complete there, contact the privacy address in the Privacy Policy. Include the relevant page URL so the request can be located.
