Central PA Mixed Martial Arts

Central PA Mixed Martial Arts delivers combat sports education along College Avenue in State College, Pennsylvania. Located within walking distance of the Penn State University Park campus, the academy provides instructional tracks in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, boxing, and mixed martial arts for collegiate athletes, local residents, and youth practitioners. The instructional roster is directed by Head Instructor Ryan "Guard Dog" Gruhn, a third-degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, two-time black belt champion, and certified instructor in catch and shoot wrestling. Classes are also taught by active professional mixed martial arts fighters and championship grappling coaches. Training covers foundational ground mechanics, gi and no-gi submission grappling, Muay Thai striking combinations, defensive footwork, and youth martial arts programs structured to build agility and focus. The facility maintains an extensive weekly training schedule serving beginners and competitive athletes alike. Students, university affiliates, and State College residents can visit the College Avenue academy to observe classes, meet the coaching team, and schedule a free trial session.
