MCBJJ - Marcelo Cavalcanti Brazilian Jiu-JItsu provides martial arts training and ground fighting instruction at 441 Carson St in Carson, California. Founded in 2007, the academy serves children, teens, and adult practitioners throughout Carson and the South Bay region. Owner and head coach Marcelo Cavalcanti was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and began training in 1992 under Carlson Gracie, Ricardo Liborio, and Roberto "Gordo" Correa. After moving to the United States in 1998 to train at the Rigan Machado Academy, he earned his black belt under Machado in 2003 and now holds the rank of 4th degree black belt. Cavalcanti is an IBJJF-certified instructor who won gold at the IBJJF Las Vegas and Fresno International Opens. Coaches include brown belt Officer C. Medrano alongside kids class coaches Miguel Zuniga and Rick Guter. Class offerings include beginner and advanced adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, no-gi submission grappling, women-only classes, and kids martial arts. Prospective students can schedule a complimentary trial class.
