SXM BJJ

SXM BJJ is the Renzo Gracie Jiu Jitsu academy in St. Maarten, on the second floor of 15 Wellington Road in Cole Bay, and the Renzo Gracie Academy affiliate directory lists Melissa Bardfield as its professor. Its Brazilian jiu-jitsu classes use Japanese judo terms for takedowns and many ground techniques. Kids classes in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and self defense are split into three age groups, 5-6, 7-9 and 10-13, and the site notes that the kids program is at capacity with a waiting list for some age groups. Newcomers over 15 start with a free introductory private or semi-private lesson. The academy also teaches Muay Thai kickboxing and self defense, with classes for children and adults, law enforcement and special needs.
