Lucas Flores is the head instructor at Gracie Barra Overland Park. Born in Brazil, he is a third-degree black belt with more than 30 years of experience in jiu-jitsu, and received his black belt in 2013 from sixth-degree black belt Maurício Melo. As a competitor Flores has won the Abu Dhabi Pro and several IBJJF Opens. Through jiu-jitsu he aims at the physical, mental and ethical development of his students, with the goal of forming not only athletes but exemplary citizens on and off the mat. He also awarded the black belt of Professor Silvana Flores, who leads the academy's women's team.
