Michael Ray Trasso

Coach Michael Trasso is the head instructor at Trasso Jiu Jitsu & Wrestling, which he opened in 2020 after moving back to New Jersey, at the same time as he started The Merge. He first stepped on the mats in 1995, at five years old, and added wrestling over the following decade while becoming one of the most accomplished adolescent jiu-jitsu competitors of his era. Recruited to wrestle for Rhode Island College in 2008, he was nationally ranked ninth in 2011 and reached 100 collegiate wins the following year. In jiu-jitsu he is a two-time IBJJF World Championship bronze medalist, a No-Gi IBJJF Pan American Champion and a three-time IBJJF Pan American medalist, with more than 500 grappling matches to his name.
