Shawn Lawrence is the owner of CDA Jiu-Jitsu in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and leads its adult program. He is an IBJJF certified black belt under Master Rigan Machado and a National Coaches Education Program Silver Coach, with more than a decade of competitive and coaching experience. He stepped onto the mats in 2010 after watching his son train for a year, competed from the start, and has collected 18 gold, 14 silver and 10 bronze medals. He received his black belt from Rigan Machado in 2022 and opened CDA Jiu-Jitsu the same year. Before jiu-jitsu, Lawrence spent three years as a commercial diver and four years as a U.S. Navy deep sea diver, followed by a 28-year career in commercial steel sales and 16 years in church ministry.
