Stephen Whittier is the head coach of SBG East Coast and the East Coast Director of Straight Blast Gym International. With three decades in martial arts, he holds black belts or instructor certifications in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, mixed martial arts, Jeet Kune Do, Filipino Kali/Eskrima and Karate. In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu he is a fifth-degree black belt under Roberto Maia, the senior-ranked instructor in Southern Massachusetts, and has trained directly with Henry Akins since 2014. In Muay Thai he holds the Gold Mongkol, the highest rank in the Sityodtong system, under Kru Mark DellaGrotte. Whittier has coached beginners and families as well as law enforcement, Secret Service personnel, military professionals and UFC fighters, and has trained multiple regional MMA champions. A professional educator and former university lecturer, he also teaches seminars across the country and internationally.
