Troy Patrick Thomas

Troy Thomas is the head instructor at FoCo BJJ in Fort Collins and an IBJJF fourth-degree black belt under Alliance founder Romero "Jacare" Cavalcanti. He began training BJJ in 1997 while serving in the Army's Ranger Regiment, and he is one of the founding members of the Modern Army Combatives Program, the first instructor at the U.S. Army Combatives School, and one of the first Combatives black belts under Matt Larsen. He served more than 30 years in the United States Army and holds a Master of Business Administration from Colorado State University. Several of the academy's coaches earned their ranks under him, including black belts Ryan Shiba and Craig Starger and brown belt Jeff Callaway.
